Concept

The Overlap House originates from a single design challenge: to create a contemporary home in a cubic silhouette that achieves both aesthetic clarity and thermal comfort. The architecture is expressed through cubic composition — the deliberate overlapping of masses. A cantilever technique extends the second-floor living space outward, creating a striking impact that feels simultaneously light and liberated. Beyond aesthetics, this is a strategic decision that provides self-shading for the entrance and parking below. The material palette is carefully balanced: white render to reflect light and amplify openness, charcoal matte frames to define edges and contours, and warm timber accents to soften the rigidity of concrete planes. Complex functions, distilled into the simplest of lines.
